Director, Accommodation Catering and Events (ACE), University of Edinburgh – since September 2003

ACE is self-funding part of the University responsible for housing nearly 10,000 students. Our property portfolio is largely a mix of owned and properties on long lease.

As Director, my role is to define, develop, implement and drive the University’s strategy for the provision of accommodation (including Residence Life) for students, catering facilities for students and staff, the commercial use of University core buildings and residences, the Universities Festival activities and the provision of Day Nursery facilities for children of staff and students

Trading under the brand Edinburgh First year round commercial operations consist of 4 hotels/apartments and extensive conference facilities. Internally ACE operate 20 catering units, a Nursery for 113 children and the University Festivals Office where over a million tickets are sold during August each year for events taking place within University properties alone.

Additional local roles include:

Board Member and International Lead on the Executive of the College and University Business Officers (CUBO)

Board and Steering Group Member of the Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG)

Prior to joining the University wide ranging experience was gained over more than 30 years in the Hotel and Conference sector with the last 10 years spent predominantly with Hilton in London in both operational and major project roles.
