Nick is a board director and Head of the Student Living team at Whittam Cox Architects (rebranded from WCEC Group in Feb 17). 

Nick has a strong interest in the continual evolution of student living design and his knowledge of the sector brings a unique, invaluable and often innovative approach to projects, to ensure maximum value is achieved for the client throughout all aspects of the design and construction process.

Over the last ten years Nick has worked with numerous University and Private Developer/ Operator clients for both on and off campus developments and has been involved in the delivery of over 18,000 bedrooms in the sector.  His skills lie in being able to clearly define and inform a client’s requirements and aspirations succinctly, to deliver creative, dynamic and robust Architecture.

The dedicated student living team at Whittam Cox Architects are currently engaged in the design/ delivery of over 3000 new student beds across the UK. Whilst we accept that we work in a commercial environment and strive to maximise value for our clients, we also aim to introduce the highest level of architectural quality while focussing on the creation of environments which enhance the wellbeing and enjoyment of the end user.

Whittam Cox Architects are a 140 strong team based in the Sheffield City Region, with regional hubs in London and Leeds. Their work spans Residential, Retail, Commercial and Leisure sectors. Two of their largest active projects at present are Royal Wharf in London for Ballymore and Middlewood Locks in Salford for Scarborough Developments.

Within the Student Living sector their clients include; The Collective, Alumno Developments, GSA, Reef Estates, Liberty Living, Victoria Halls/ Host, City Block, Three Sixty Developments, Select Property Group/ VITA Student, Torsion Group, Bouygues UK and Mace. Increasingly they are working on Build to Rent projects also which have clear synergies with principles of Student Living.
