Ben joined renowned AJ100 practice Architype in 2000 and has been a Director of the practice since 2015. He has delivered a wide range of complex residential, community, educational, and public commissions, leading many of Architype’s innovative and award-winning projects including The Enterprise Centre, an exemplary low-carbon building for the University of East Anglia and Entopia, a deep-green retrofit for the Centre for Sustainability Leadership’s headquarters at the University of Cambridge.
Since 2022, Ben has led a successful collaboration between Architype and UPP, to improve the operational performance of their estates on UK university campuses and facilitate the transition towards net zero. He is currently leading the Passivhaus design of 1700 new build student rooms at West Park, University of Exeter, as well as a number of feasibility studies for new build Passivhaus accommodation and EnerPHit retrofits across a variety of sites.
Ben is a board member of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products and leads the development of ECCOLAB, Architype’s innovative cost and carbon design tool.
