John is The Managing Director of Assured Energy Solutions (AES) who deliver carbon reduction solutions primarily into PBSA. Before forming AES in 2008, John spent 2 decades in various sales and management roles which focused on delivering mission critical IT and Telecoms solutions. During this time, John gained extensive experience working for technology companies delivering technology and consulting into many global household names such as Vodafone, Sky, Sony, QVC and others. In the early stages of his career, John specialised in the technology field, but decided on a change of career path in 2008 in the expanding area of energy efficiency. John became the UK Partner for the USA energy efficiency consultancy called Energy Automation Systems Inc – EASI. The focus was on surveying facilities to show where waste energy was being produced and then apply technology to eradicate it. This led John to expand into the Middle East and into the early stages of LED lighting technology. It was at a seminar in Dubai over 10 years ago where John was presenting a new driverless LED technology, that he had a chance meeting with an organisation heavily involved in Student Accommodation. This meeting resulted in a 10-year journey to date delivering innovative LED lighting solutions into PBSA. These are underwritten by 10-year warranties that have the longest lifecycles and are the most sustainable in the industry. Maintenance free for over a decade – emergency batteries included. These solutions have been delivered in partnership with Siteco and Clevertronics into some of the UK’s largest retrofit and new build student accommodation estates. Beyond his professional endeavours, John helps mentor people with ideas they would like to turn into a business, particularly young people starting out on their work life journey. His input provides an important sounding board for ideas and helps mentees to avoid the many pitfalls of starting out in business.
