Q. What, in your view, makes an entry truly stand out?
The entries that stand out are those that go beyond simply describing what was done and clearly demonstrate the difference that was made. I look for a compelling story, supported by tangible outcomes, whether that’s improving student experience, driving operational outcomes or controlling operating costs – the entry needs to deliver meaningful innovation. In my view, the strongest submissions showcase authenticity and give clear context to the challenges being address and show measurable impact.
Q. Why is it crucial for the next generation of property professionals to see these stories in the spotlight?
Recognition plays an important role in inspiring future talent. Showcasing the achievements of individuals and organisations helps demonstrate the breadth of opportunities within the sector and highlights the positive impact our industry can have. For those early in their careers, seeing innovative ideas, strong leadership and outstanding results being recognised, provides both inspiration and a benchmark for success. Q. What examples of exceptional resident experience are you hoping to see this year? Ultimately, exceptional resident experience is about creating environments where students can thrive. I'm looking forward to seeing examples of organisations that are setting new standards and delivering lasting value for their residents. I’d like to see initiatives that have improved wellbeing, fostered a sense of belonging or addressed specific challenges faced by residents. Supported by the evidence of impact, whether that be through resident feedback, satisfaction scores, reviews, rebooker rates or other measurable outcomes.
Q. What advice would you give to an organisation or individual entering for the first time?
My advice to first-time entrants is to focus on impact.
Clearly articulate the challenge, the actions you took and most importantly, the results you achieved. Use evidence to support your story and focus on what makes your contribution unique. Awards are an opportunity to celebrate success and gain recognition for positive impacts being made across the sector.
